 Turkmenistan confirms commitment to social reforms at the UN Human Rights Council

On Wednesday, 2 October, the Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan to the UN Office in Geneva, in collaboration with the permanent missions of Central Asian countries, organized a parallel event on the topic “Human Rights and the Right to Development” within the framework of the 57th session of the UN Human Rights Council.

The event was attended by Permanent Representatives of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkey and Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of international organizations and experts in the field of human rights.

During the event, Vepa Hajiyev, the Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the UN Office in Geneva, delivered a speech. He emphasized the importance of the right to development as a fundamental element of human rights and spoke about Turkmenistan's current efforts in this area.

Ambassador Hajiyev noted that national programs are being implemented in the country aimed at improving the quality of life for the population. These initiatives encompass structural reforms, the creation of new jobs, and support for small and medium-sized businesses, opening up new opportunities for citizens, including people with disabilities.

Hajiyev emphasized Turkmenistan's commitment to the role of a socially oriented state, maintaining its status of permanent neutrality, and contributing to regional stability and security.
