A historic moment: a monument to Magtymguly was erected in Moscow
01.10.2024 | 09:50 |On September 30, a monument to the great poet and founder of the literary Turkmen language, Magtymguly Fragi, was ceremoniously opened in Moscow in the atrium of the All-Russian State Library for Foreign Literature named after M. I. Rudomino. This sculpture was created and erected on the initiative of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Russian Federation.
The opening of the memorial sculpture was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Russian Federation Esen Aydogdyev, Director General of the Library for Foreign Literature Pavel Kuzmin, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Sergey Pershin, Special Representative of the President of Russia for International Cultural Cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoy, Executive Director of the A. M. Gorchakov Foundation Leonid Drachevsky and others. The Turkmen creative delegation included famous soloists Bakhar Annaeva, Gulshat Kurdova, Atajan Berdyev and others.
The monument, created by talented sculptor Zakhid Babayev, is made in a classical manner, reflecting the very essence of the poet and his work. This historical event became the first in the history of the Russian capital, when a Turkmen poet was immortalized.
In the year of the glorious anniversary of the great thinker and poet Magtymguly Fragi, whose works have been translated into many languages, we gratefully remember the names of those who contributed to the elevation of the name of this outstanding son of the Turkmen people. Among them are the poets A. Tarkovsky, G. Shengeli, M. Tarlovsky, S. Ivanov, Yu. Gordienko, Yu. Neiman, N. Grebnev and others, whose translations brought the immortal thoughts of Magtymguly to Russian-speaking readers.
There are monuments to Magtymguly in Astrakhan and Stavropol, where Turkmens have lived for several centuries. In Astrakhan, the poet once left his mark, but in the very heart of Russia, the first monument was erected, reflecting the significance of these places, where the first translations of his poems appeared, revealing the name of the great Magtymguly to the world.
In the evening, the President Hotel hosted a gala reception and concert dedicated to the 33rd anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence and the opening of the monument to Magtymguly. This significant event brought together politicians, cultural and scientific figures, as well as representatives of the Turkmen diaspora living in Moscow. Also, hero of Turkmenistan, academician Ivan Kuzmin was present at the reception.
The event presented an exquisite musical program, which was decorated with performances by artists and bakhshis who arrived from Turkmenistan, as well as Russian musicians, such as artist of the Helikon Opera Theater Darya Guseynova and composer Mamed Guseynov.
The winners of the Sounds of Dutar festival also shone on the stage, their talent and skill did not leave those present indifferent. The team of the Sounds of Dutar Festival actively participated in organizing the cultural program of the evening, filling it with unique performances and unforgettable impressions. This celebration became not only a tribute to the great poet and thinker, but also a bright holiday uniting the hearts and souls of people of different cultures and traditions.
This year, the Sounds of Dutar festival organized a number of inspiring competitions dedicated to the three hundredth anniversary of Magtymguly. Among them are the painting competition "Reflection", a composer's competition for the poems of the great poet, as well as a competition of reciters of his works. These events creatively recreate an intangible monument to the poet's talent, glorifying his legacy, and the festival of art unites different cultures and opens new horizons for perceiving the work of the outstanding master of words.
