The President of Turkmenistan arrived in St. Petersburg for an informal summit of the heads of the CIS countries
26.12.2023 | 12:31 |President Serdar Berdimuhamedov arrived on Tuesday, December 26, on a working visit to the Russian Federation to participate in an informal summit of the heads of the CIS countries.
The head of state was seen off by officials at the Ashgabat International Airport. A few hours later, the presidential airliner landed at Pulkovo International Airport in St. Petersburg, where the head of Turkmenistan was met by officials, the state news agency TDH reports.
The meeting is a traditional format for communication between heads of state, who have been gathering in St. Petersburg in late December for many years.
Pre-New Year meetings of CIS leaders testify to the desire of the participating countries to continue to jointly build cooperation in the Commonwealth space in the spirit of strategic partnership, mutual benefit and taking into account the interests of all states.
In 2024, Russia will chair the CIS, this post will pass to it from Kyrgyzstan. The program of Moscow's chairmanship is very rich, it will include about 150 events. The main one will be the next summit, which is planned to be held in the Russian capital on October 8.
