BOMCA conducts national seminar on Integrated Border Management in Turkmenistan

A national seminar focused on developing an Integrated Border Management Strategy and its Implementation Plan took place in Ashgabat from February 3rd to 7th, 2025. The event was organized under the framework of the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10), in collaboration with the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) and the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Centre (UNCCT).

Seminar participants gained insights into the advantages of an integrated approach to border security.

The Integrated Border Management Strategy identifies risks and threats, designates national agencies and their roles in combating cross-border crime. The Strategy also establishes effective cooperation mechanisms, as well as areas for agency development to address security challenges such as irregular migration and human trafficking, terrorism, narcotics, smuggling, and other cross-border threats.
