School bus project launched in Almaty
10.08.2023 | 00:37 |School buses will take Almaty students to classes from September 1. For the first time in the city, a large-scale project "School Bus" is being launched to provide free transport for transporting children from their place of residence to an educational institution and back, Kazinform reports.
The Almaty authorities have purchased 100 new buses to transport younger students and students who live far from their place of study. Vehicles comply with international safety standards and technical requirements - they have an emergency exit, seat belts, a ramp for children with disabilities, a fire safety system and others.
When transporting children from home to school and back, a teacher will definitely accompany them. Schools have already developed the optimal route, pick-up time for children, and the number of stops. 20- seater buses will drive towards the mountains and outlying suburbs of the city. One seat is allocated per child, no one will ride standing.
This project, first of all, is aimed at improving the level of safety of schoolchildren so that they refuse to use taxis on their own and travel by bus unaccompanied. In addition, it will “unload” parents from the need to deliver children to school, and this, consequently, will reduce traffic intensity during rush hour, the report says.
