A Turkmen delegation took part in the launch ceremony of the "Women in Transport Sector (WiT)" network for the regions of Europe and Central Asia, the Middle East and North Africa. The inaugural conference was held in Istanbul.

The network was created by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the European Investment Bank (EIB), the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), the International Transport Forum and the World Bank Group. Its goal is to stimulate the economic activity of women at all levels of the transport sector in the countries of Europe and Central Asia, the Middle East and North Africa, with a special emphasis on specialties requiring medium and high qualifications, and leadership positions. The WiT network will interact with ministries and public transport service providers, the private sector, development partners, academia and interested individuals to ensure the network's objectives are met through networking, information exchange, and analytical research.

During the inaugural conference, participants were introduced to the proposed main components around which the network's work will be built, as well as individual regional initiatives designed to identify opportunities for cooperation. The results of recent scientific studies on the current situation of women in the transport sector at the global and regional levels were also presented.

The participants of the conference were addressed by the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey, Abdulkadir Uraloglu, with an introductory speech.
