Turkmenistan's representative addressed the UN office in Geneva meeting with diplomats

The event, organized by Tatiana Valovaya, UNOG Director-General, was attended by Vepa Hajiyev, the Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to UNOG.
The event also gathered representatives from public and non-governmental organizations, media, and academics.
Tatiana Valovaya briefly outlined the prospects for further cooperation, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and dialogue in the face of modern global challenges. She reiterated the importance of collective efforts in building trust between states and highlighted the role of multilateral diplomacy in achieving these goals.
David Fernandez Puyana, Permanent Observer of the University of Peace (UPEACE) to the UN and other international organizations in Geneva, then spoke. In his speech, he spoke about the importance of peace, trust and dialogue, especially in these difficult times. He particularly noted Turkmenistan's contribution to maintaining these values.
Puyana recalled that 2025, at the initiative of Turkmenistan, was proclaimed the International Year of Peace and Trust under a UN General Assembly resolution, and stressed the importance of this initiative for the international community.
In his speech, Vepa Hajiyev, the Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the UN Office in Geneva, focused on the relevance of the topic of peace and trust. He briefed the participants in detail on the activities carried out by Turkmenistan in this direction and emphasized the symbolism of the fact that in 2025 the country celebrates the 30th anniversary of its permanent neutrality, which has been repeatedly confirmed by UN General Assembly resolutions.
Ambassador Hajiyev also noted that Turkmenistan's neutrality is the basis for promoting dialogue, strengthening international cooperation and ensuring sustainable peace.
The event became an important platform for discussing cooperation prospects, exchanging views and strengthening dialogue between states and international organizations. Meeting participants reaffirmed their commitment to joint efforts to maintain peace, trust and stability at the global level.
