Oriented on making people closer

A celebration in honor of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan took place in Tashkent, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Uzbekistan reports on its Instagram page.

The event was attended by representatives of the Uzbek government, deputies of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, public organizations, employees of embassies and international organizations accredited in Uzbekistan, representatives of the Turkmen diaspora.

In his speech, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjayev noted the rapidly developing nature of relations between the two countries and pointed to the huge potential for improvement in the future.

"Last year our relations were brought to the level of in-depth strategic partnership. Significant indicators have been achieved in trade and economic cooperation. The mutual trade turnover has increased 5 times in recent years – to almost $ 1 billion," he said.

Popular creative collectives and Uzbek pop artists performed with bright numbers in front of the guests, giving the audience a real holiday. Turkmen songs and poems by great poets — Magtymguly and Alisher Navoi - were performed on the stage.

The exhibition of products of Turkmen decorative and applied art, introducing the culture of Turkmenistan, gave the event a special flavor.

Contacts at the highest level and an open and trusting dialogue established between the two fraternal states form a solid basis for strategic relations," said Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Uzbekistan Yazguly Mammedov, noting that meetings of the intergovernmental commission and meetings of business circles are actively held.

Anniversary of diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan earlier was celebrated on a wide scale in Ashgabat as well. The celebration was held in the Ashgabat recreation park "Tashkent".
