Tonight, the National Music and Drama Theatre of Turkmenistan named after Makhtumkuli hosted the traditional Christmas concert organized by the German Embassy in Turkmenistan. This year, Kammeroper Dresden from Germany performed on the stage.

Opera is a brilliant show that has always attracted the audience not only by the uniquely deep voices of the performers, but also by the prestige or even the bombast of the event.

It was pleasant to get into the warm, soulful atmosphere that the performers – Jeanette and Thomas Ender and conductor Johannes Eichhorn had arranged for the audience. They managed to share with Turkmen listeners the feeling of the German Christmas, home holiday, when all family members gather. The singers even invited the guests of the evening to sing the welcome song “Good evening, beautiful evening” together.

At this musical event, there was no place for arrogance and insolence: the couple of Ender led the public through the Christmas stories told in folk songs, so it was easy to understand even without knowing German language.

The concert also featured works by Peter Cornelius and Max Rieger, as well as the MOZART's Symphony No. 40 performed by the Special Music School named after D.Ovezov at the Turkmen National Conservatory.

The concert ended with the performance of the classic German song “Quiet Christmas Night”, which was performed by Kammeroper Dresden along with the Turkmen tenor Nury Nuryev accompanied by a student orchestra.

For the last performance, Thomas Ender invited audience to repeat the success of the welcoming song and sang the German New Year’s song “O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum” together. The audience responded with joy, quickly learning a simple text. At the end of the concert, the musicians applauded the audience, and the audience – the musicians. Going out the theater, many people continued to hum lines of the song.

The musicians of Kammeroper Dresden will continue their Christmas tour around Turkmenistan and will give a concert in Mary tomorrow.
