 Turkmenistan proposed to the UN to host a Global Summit on the Culture of Peace

On the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov met with UN Under-Secretary-General Miguel Angel Moratinos, High Representative of the UN Alliance of Civilizations. During the talks, the Turkmen side put forward a number of important initiatives.

Among Turkmenistan's proposals is the holding of an international forum, "Central Asia: Space for Building a Peaceful Life," under the auspices of UNESCO and the Alliance of Civilizations. A key part of this initiative will be the organization of a Global Summit on the Culture of Peace, Trust, and Mutual Respect, which will underscore Turkmenistan's commitment to dialogue between cultures and religions.

At the meeting, the parties discussed priority areas of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UN Alliance of Civilizations, emphasizing the promotion of mutual understanding and trust in international relations. Turkmenistan confirmed its readiness to use the platform of the 80th session of the General Assembly to advance initiatives in the area of ​​peace and trust. Rashid Meredov and Miguel Angel Moratinos agreed to continue cooperation in the identified areas, noting the importance of working together for peace and mutual respect.
