A New Level of Confusion: Intel Re-released an Old Processor Under a New Name
17.09.2025 | 17:00 |Intel has made its already confusing product naming system even more complicated by re-releasing the old Core i5 10400 chip under a new name — Core i5 110. The new brand was created to fit the outdated model, known by the codename “Comet Lake,” into the modern processor lineup.
Now, even experienced specialists find it harder to navigate Intel’s product range. The company offers numerous models with different architectures, including Comet Lake, Raptor Lake, Meteor Lake, and others. These may share similar names but differ significantly in performance, age, and price.
Notably, back in 2023, Intel announced plans to simplify its branding by replacing the Pentium and Celeron names with the more universal “Intel Processor.” However, experts believe this new step of rebranding old chips contradicts that goal and makes consumer choice even more difficult.
