Serdar Berdimuhamedov arrived in New York to participate in the 80th session of the UN General Assembly

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov arrived in New York on September 21 to participate in the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, underscoring the strategic importance of Turkmenistan's engagement with the Organization. This visit takes place during a special year, marking the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the UN.

The country's foreign policy is based on positive neutrality, which has been officially recognized by the UN three times. This status serves as the foundation for the development of broad cooperation with the international community.

Turkmenistan actively promotes initiatives within the UN aimed at strengthening peace and trust. Over the years of partnership, the country has put forward a number of proposals, as a result of which the UN General Assembly adopted important resolutions, including the proclamation of 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust.

Cooperation covers a wide range of areas, from sustainable development and the environment to education and humanitarian issues. A striking example of this effective partnership was the successful holding of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries in Avaza.

The head of state's working visit confirms Turkmenistan's commitment to developing long-term and multifaceted relations with the UN. At the 80th anniversary session of the United Nations General Assembly, Turkmenistan will promote a holistic approach to security and sustainable development based on the principles of neutrality, trust, and multilateral cooperation.
