Peaceful Policy: Conference on Turkmenistan’s Neutrality Held in Romania
21.09.2025 | 15:30 |On September 17, at the National University of Science and Technology Politehnica in Bucharest, an international conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality was held. The event was organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Romania and was also dedicated to the 34th anniversary of the country’s independence and the declaration of 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust.
Diplomats, representatives of Romanian state and academic circles, as well as students, participated in the conference. The participants emphasized that Turkmenistan’s policy of permanent neutrality plays an important role in strengthening peace and stability in the region and the world.
The rector of the university, Professor Mihnea Costoiu, highlighted the peaceful nature of Turkmenistan’s policy, while Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Romania A. Annaev, in his speech, stressed that neutrality is the foundation of the country’s foreign policy and has been confirmed three times by the UN General Assembly.
The conference also paid attention to the prospects for the development of Turkmen-Romanian relations, including:
• The Caspian Sea – Black Sea transport corridor.
• Cooperation in the fields of energy, digital technologies, and ecology.
At the conclusion of the event, guests had the opportunity to get acquainted with Turkmenistan’s culture more closely at a special exhibition and a tasting of national dishes.
