Ashgabat held the 26th Conference of the World Turkmens Humanitarian Association

The 26th Conference of the Humanitarian Association of Turkmens of the World (HATW) was held at the Center for Public Organizations of Turkmenistan on Saturday, September 13. The forum brought together delegates from all regions of the country and representatives of the Turkmen diasporas abroad.

In his address to the participants, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the symbolism of the meeting, timed to the International Year of Peace and Trust and the celebration of Independence Day. According to him, HATW plays a significant role in strengthening ties with compatriots and promoting the ideas of neutrality and humanism in the international arena.

The association unites 27 foreign branches. They organize cultural events and humanitarian initiatives. Thus, in 2025, the UAE hosted the conference “Turkmenistan – Homeland of Peace and Trust”, and in Afghanistan, the Magtymguly Fragi Cultural Society held a friendship event.

During the meeting in Ashgabat, delegates discussed the priority areas of the organization's work, including support for cultural and humanitarian ties, popularization of national heritage, and interaction of diasporas. Following the conference, a number of active members of the GATM were awarded honorary certificates.

GATM acts as a kind of "soft channel" of diplomacy, linking Turkmenistan's domestic agenda with its international image. Through cultural events and work with diasporas, the state conveys the values of neutrality, humanism, and commitment to peace, forming a positive image of the country abroad.
