GitHub CEO resigns, company to be led by Microsoft's AI division
14.08.2025 | 17:40 |GitHub CEO Thomas Dohmke has announced his resignation after nearly four years of leading the company. He is stepping down to pursue new projects outside of Microsoft.
At the same time, Microsoft is eliminating the position of GitHub's CEO and moving the developer team under the direct control of its new AI division, CoreAI. This move marks a new phase of integrating the platform into the Microsoft ecosystem, which acquired GitHub in 2018.
GitHub's leadership will now report to the CoreAI team, led by Jay Parekh. In an internal memo, Thomas Dohmke pledged to remain in his role until the end of 2025 to ensure a smooth transition.
