Towards a World-Scale Meeting in Avaza: The Head of the Khalk Maslakhaty Held a Meeting
14.07.2025 | 00:02 |On July 13, National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a meeting of the Organizing State Committee dedicated to preparations for the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3). This world-class international forum will be held in the Avaza National Tourist Zone from August 4 to 8, 2025.
The meeting was a key stage in assessing the work done and specifying the upcoming tasks to ensure that the event is held at the highest level.
The meeting was attended by members of the Government, heads of ministries and departments, which emphasizes the nationwide nature of the preparations.
Global Recognition and International Agenda
Addressing the audience, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that the Resolution on holding this Conference in Turkmenistan was adopted at the 63rd plenary meeting of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly on April 11 of this year. The co-authors of this resolution were 57 countries of the world, which is a clear indication of the high international authority of Turkmenistan and recognition of its role in the development of global partnership.
To ensure the impeccable organization of such a large-scale event, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed the Resolution "On Holding the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries" on July 4. In addition, an Agreement was signed between the Government of Turkmenistan and the United Nations on the procedure for organizing the Conference, which confirms close cooperation with the UN.
The Scale and Format of the Upcoming Forum
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized the unprecedented scale of the upcoming events. Over the course of five days, the Conference is scheduled to hold numerous events of political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian nature.
The participation of 32 heads of state, including heads of government, as well as representatives of interested UN member states, the Secretary-General of the United Nations and his deputies is expected. In addition to them, leaders and representatives of many international and regional structures, legislative bodies, financial institutions, public associations and the private sector will arrive.
The program of events covers seven main areas:
• Opening and closing ceremonies, plenary sessions.
• Five thematic high-level round tables.
• Seven high-level forums, including: The South-South Cooperation Ministerial Meeting, the Parliamentary Forum, the Private Sector Forum, the Civil Society Forum, the Youth Forum, the Women Leaders Meeting and the Cooperation Event.
• Numerous side events organized by participating countries, international organizations and the Turkmen side, including discussions on land transport and communications, the International Year of Peace and Trust, youth policy, sustainable energy, and the circular economy.
• Thematic exhibitions.
• National days of the Central Asian states and a gala concert.
• Official banquet on behalf of the Government of Turkmenistan.
Preparation Details: From Infrastructure to Hospitality
The meeting defined specific tasks designed to ensure the highest level of organization:
• Strict control over the implementation of all provisions of the Presidential Decree and the Agreement with the UN.
• Completion of all construction, installation and landscaping work in the city of Turkmenbashi, the Turkmenbashi International Airport and the Avaza National Tourist Zone in the coming days. Particular attention to cleanliness and green areas.
• Joint development of the program for the opening and closing ceremonies with the UN Secretariat.
• Formation of the composition of the Turkmen delegation to participate in round tables and forums.
• Development of concepts and programs for accompanying events, exhibitions of the Turkmen side (responsible – Chamber of Commerce and Industry), as well as a gala concert as part of the national days of the Central Asian states.
• Special attention to hospitality: meeting guests at the airport according to the traditions of the Turkmen people, appointing official representatives to meet delegations, organizing the work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the velayats to receive guests.
• Design and improvement of the city: determining mottos and images for display along the roads, maintaining the lighting system.
• Accommodation and maintenance: providing high-quality accommodation in hotels, creating all the necessary conditions, maintaining the work of medical and trade points.
• Transport support: efficient and proper functioning of all transport, checking its technical condition, organizing ambulance duty, developing a unified bus schedule system.
• Food supply: careful control, coordination with the Ministry of Trade, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the State Association of the Food Industry.
• Medical care and security: ensuring high-quality medical care and maintaining public order.
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov reported on the work carried out, the preparation of the administrative building of the forum and volunteers.
Deputy Prime Ministers Batyr Amanov and Baimyrat Annamammedov reported on the progress of construction and repair work and the general program of the Conference, assuring their commitment to ensuring compliance with international standards. Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Bahar Seyidova informed about the cultural program. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also drew attention to the need for broad and high-quality coverage of the international forum in domestic media, noting the need to improve this work.
Particular attention will be paid to cultural and humanitarian events, including a friendship concert and a festival of national dishes in honor of the national days of the countries of the world.
At the end of the meeting, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov familiarized himself with the uniform for volunteers, gave recommendations on clothing for doctors, cameramen and other service workers.
He also examined the design options for passenger buses that will be used during the conference, emphasizing that the design should correspond to the spirit of the forum and reflect the historical significance of the event.
