Bastille Day: A Symbol of Freedom and Unity in France
July 14 is one of the most important national holidays in France, symbolizing the beginning of a new era in the country's history. On this day in 1789, the Bastille was stormed - a medieval fortress-prison in Paris, which became the embodiment of absolutism and oppression. This event served as a powerful impetus for the Great French Revolution.
Since 1880, July 14 has been officially celebrated as the National Day of France. On this day, solemn events, parades and public festivities are held throughout the country, symbolizing the unity of the nation, its commitment to the principles of freedom, equality and fraternity. The main military parade traditionally takes place on the Champs-Élysées in Paris, gathering thousands of spectators.
