 Turkmenistan and Khatlon Province Discuss Expansion of Interregional Cooperation

On June 20, as part of the International Tourism Forum “Khatlon – the Warm Heart of Tourism,” a meeting took place between the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Tajikistan, Aymyrat Gochmyradov, and the Chairman of Khatlon Province, Davlatali Said.

During the negotiations, the parties discussed priority areas of bilateral cooperation, including the agricultural, industrial, cultural-humanitarian, and tourism sectors. Particular attention was given to enhancing interregional ties through the implementation of agreements between the administration of Khatlon Province and the hyakimliks of Mary and Lebap velayats of Turkmenistan.

These agreements cover trade and economic, scientific and technical, social, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation, contributing to the strengthening of ties between the regions of the two countries.

The sides also discussed establishing stable business contacts between entrepreneurial structures, participation in joint events, and the exchange of information on ongoing projects.

The symbolic opening of the Makhtumkuli Fragi Secondary School in the Dusti district of Khatlon Province on September 1, 2024, was noted. The ceremony was attended by the presidents of Turkmenistan and Tajikistan via videoconference.

As a result of the meeting, mutual interest in further strengthening trade and economic cooperation and implementing new joint initiatives was confirmed.
