Youth Forum Opens in Awaza Ahead of UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries
04.08.2025 | 11:35 |On August 4, a Youth Forum opened in Awaza, held in conjunction with the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3), which will take place from August 5 to 8.
The forum serves as a platform for dialogue among youth from 32 LLDCs, representatives of UN member states, international organizations, and civil society. Participants include members of the LLDC3 Youth Advisory Group, UN representatives, and youth activists.
A key outcome of the forum will be the signing of the Youth Declaration titled "Building Bridges for the Future of LLDCs." The document was developed by the International Coordination Meeting of Youth Organizations (ICMYO) and the Major Group for Children and Youth (MGCY), in collaboration with the United Nations Office of the High Representative for LLDCs (UN-OHRLLS).
The main goals of the forum are to engage youth in the implementation of the new Programme of Action for LLDCs, facilitate the exchange of experiences in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and generate solutions and initiatives aimed at the socio-economic development of landlocked developing countries.
The forum includes thematic sessions on climate issues, digital transformation, trust-building, and harnessing the demographic dividend. Youth organization representatives are presenting their projects, initiatives, and proposals for contributing to the implementation of the new Programme of Action.
The culmination of the event will be the presentation of the Youth Declaration to the President of the United Nations General Assembly as a symbol of young people’s commitment to contributing to the sustainable development of their countries.
