Studying Abroad: What You Need to Know
17.01.2025 | 00:05 |Obviously, many will say that to do this, you need to know the foreign language of instruction and the rules for admission to foreign educational institutions, and it is also important to understand how to adapt to an unfamiliar cultural environment. A three-month university preparation course for young people who plan to enroll in foreign universities and succeed in the international academic environment, organized by the educational center "Baky Tylla" in cooperation with the Scholarly Skills project, can help with this. Its program is designed specifically for schoolchildren/graduates and applicants with the aim of developing the key skills necessary for successful admission to university.
The course covers a wide range of topics, including preparation for reading and writing, mathematics based on the standardized SAT test, which is used in entrance exams by most foreign colleges and universities to make admission decisions. The course program also includes training in critical thinking strategies, academic writing techniques, research skills, presentation, time management, and issues of psychological adaptation to a new environment. For a deep study of these topics, competent speakers are invited who will share their experience, especially in the field of psychological adaptation, helping students prepare for life abroad and get used to new cultural conditions.
These are professionals with real-world experience of studying and succeeding in an international academic environment. Among them is Annamengli Rozymuradova, a University of Portsmouth graduate with an honours degree in Law with International Relations. Her experience helps students navigate university life abroad. Enejan Bendova, a University of Huddersfield graduate with an honours degree in Information Technology, has a deep knowledge of effective academic writing principles. As an experienced mentor, she helps prospective students create strong personal and academic essays, giving them the tools to succeed in their studies.
Among those who teach the course is Rovshen Ovezmuradov, a 5th-year student at Magtymguly Turkmen State University who specializes in number theory, mathematical analysis, and linear algebra. From his school years to the present, he has successfully participated in many mathematical Olympiads and won medals.
Scholarly Skills has already helped many students who are now successfully studying in the UK. The proposed course aims to provide access to the same high-quality training that has helped others achieve their academic goals.
