The ICRC and Turkmenistan are strengthening their dialogue on international humanitarian law
13.12.2024 | 22:45 |On December 13, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan hosted a meeting between Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and the head of the Regional Representation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Central Asia, Biljana Milosevic, who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in events dedicated to the International Day of Neutrality.
During the meeting, a brief overview of the current activities of the ICRC in Central Asia was presented, with an emphasis on the work in Turkmenistan. The issues of implementing international humanitarian law in national legislation, as well as strengthening cooperation with the National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan were discussed.
The parties emphasized the importance of events aimed at developing the capacity of the ICRC's national partners in the field of international humanitarian law, and discussed plans for 2025. In particular, the possibilities of organizing courses and lectures on international humanitarian law for students of Turkmen universities were considered, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reported.
