05.12.2024 | 16:30 |On December 4, 2024, the new buildings and facilities of the "Farap Highways" customs checkpoint, located at the border with the Republic of Uzbekistan, were ceremoniously opened and put into operation.
As part of the Program for the Development of Customs Authorities of Turkmenistan for 2022-2028, work is being carried out to create transit transport corridors that enable multimodal cargo transportation along the country's border and to widely implement digital systems at customs checkpoints.
The "Farap Highways" customs checkpoint, located along several international transport corridors, has seen an increase in the volume of transit cargo and vehicles year by year. In connection with this, construction work to renovate the customs checkpoint was carried out. During the construction, the total area of the checkpoint was expanded from 5.2 hectares to 10 hectares. With the new facilities, it is now possible to conduct customs inspections for 16 vehicles simultaneously.
Previously, the customs checkpoint's capacity allowed for the processing of 250 vehicles per day in each direction. Now, with the newly built buildings and facilities, the checkpoint's capacity has increased to 500 vehicles per day in each direction, and up to 1000 vehicles in total. As a result, the cargo and vehicle handling capacity of the "Farap Highways" customs checkpoint has been doubled.
Additionally, the digital system has been extensively implemented at the checkpoint.
The military personnel of the State Customs Service express their gratitude and appreciation to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero Arkadag, and to the Esteemed President, Arkadag Hero Serdar, for the creation of these conditions and the efforts of the Turkmen people.
