The session was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Mammetkhan Chakiyev and Minister of Communications of Turkmenistan Khadzhimurat Khudaygulyev, as well as representatives of relevant international organizations, financial institutions and the telecommunications sector.
Participants discussed the role of digital connectivity as a key tool for overcoming the geographic limitations and structural challenges faced by landlocked developing countries. Of particular interest were examples of digital projects in rural areas, approaches to overcoming gender and territorial inequalities in the digital space, as well as cooperation between governments, businesses and international institutions to create inclusive digital ecosystems.
A separate session was devoted to cross-border digital trade, where ways to harmonize regulatory regimes and use digital public goods to accelerate digital transformation in LLDC countries were discussed. It is worth noting that today Turkmenistan is actively involved in the international digital agenda and seeks to expand partnerships in the field of information and communication technologies.
