Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and China discuss prospects for cooperation
01.12.2024 | 19:40 |On November 30, in Chengdu, China, a meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, and his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, took place. The event was held on the sidelines of the fifth "Central Asia - China" format meeting, confirming the strategic importance of bilateral relations.
The heads of foreign policy agencies noted the dynamic development of interstate dialogue, based on mutual respect and benefit. Particular attention was paid to the implementation of previously reached agreements, including initiatives in the energy, transport, and cultural spheres.
The ministers emphasized the importance of the Turkmen-Chinese Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee, which contributes to the implementation of joint projects. They also discussed preparations for the second "Central Asia - China" summit, which will be held in 2025 in Astana, strengthening multifaceted interaction.
The outcome of the meeting was the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Foreign Ministries of Turkmenistan and China for 2025-2026. This document will lay the foundation for further deepening of partnership, expanding trade and economic ties, and cultural exchange.
The meeting demonstrated the desire of both sides to strengthen cooperation at all levels, emphasizing the key role of Turkmenistan and China in developing stability and prosperity in the region.
