 1,211 aftershocks have been recorded following the earthquake in China's Xizang (Tibet)

A total of 1,211 aftershocks have been recorded following the 6.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Dingri County in the southwestern Chinese autonomous region of Xizang (Tibet) on Tuesday, according to local authorities cited by China Daily.

According to the regional earthquake bureau, the largest aftershock measured 4.4 on the Richter scale and occurred approximately 18 kilometers from the epicenter of the 6.8 magnitude earthquake. The bureau also noted that 33 aftershocks had a magnitude greater than 3.

The 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck Dingri County in the city of Shigatse at 9:05 a.m. on Tuesday, resulting in 126 fatalities and 188 injuries. A total of 407 trapped individuals were rescued.
