27.11.2024 | 19:30 |On November 27, an international business forum was held at the "Yildiz" hotel to mark the 30th anniversary of cooperation with the American company Visa, a global leader in the digital payments industry. The event was attended by representatives from the Turkmen government, Visa, experts in financial technologies, businesspeople, and economists.
The forum's agenda focused on key issues related to the strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and Visa, including discussions on achievements in financial technologies and the implementation of secure payment solutions. Participants explored the prospects for the development of advanced technologies and innovations in the international payment system within the context of Turkmenistan.
Anton Borozdin, Senior Director of Visa's Business Development Department for Central Asia, spoke about the company's future cooperation plans with Turkmenistan:
"First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to the Esteemed President and the Government of Turkmenistan for granting the forum “International” status. Visa has been cooperating with Turkmenistan for 30 years. Our first partner in Turkmenistan was the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of the country. Together, we have implemented numerous projects that provide the population with the opportunity to make payments with cards, contribute to the digitalization of the country, and enhance financial inclusion. Today's forum has brought together not only banks from Turkmenistan but also banks from across Central Asia. It is a unique platform for sharing experiences, gaining new knowledge, and building contacts and networks within our region. Colleagues from Visa, working in various regions including Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, shared valuable knowledge and information about the products and services of the company that have already been implemented or are planned for implementation in Turkmenistan. As for development plans, we, together with our banking partners — Vnesheconombank, Senagat, and Halkbanks — will continue supporting the country's digitalization, introducing advanced payment technologies, and expanding access to financial tools".
Additionally, the forum became an important platform for discussing the latest trends in digital payments and the development of infrastructure for providing digital financial services. Participants also reviewed the successful experience of other countries in financial technologies and how it could be adapted to the Turkmen market.
