 100 participants from 15 countries will compete in the tournament of young chefs as part of KazanForum-2024

From May 15 to 17, the international tournament of young chefs of Islamic countries named after Yunus Akhmetzyanov will be held in Kazan for the first time as part of KazanForum-2024.

More than 100 young chefs from 15 countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) are participating in the tournament. Everyone will be able to try the national cuisine of the participating countries for free. President of the Association of Restaurateurs and Hoteliers of the Republic of Tatarstan, Zufar Gayazov, spoke about this.

“This year we are the organizers of the tournament, our republic will represent Russia. On the site you will also see Tatar national cuisine. Master classes on cooking Tatar dishes are expected, one of them is cooking ochpochmak,” he shared.

Special boxes and a separate comfortable food area will be organized for tournament guests from 11:00 to 16:00 daily. Young chefs from Azerbaijan, Malaysia, Kyrgyzstan, Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco and others will treat them to national dishes.

In addition, guests of the event will get acquainted with the cultural characteristics of the participating countries, and will also be able to listen to lectures on the peculiarities of proper nutrition.

Aspiring talented chefs under the age of 25 take part in the tournament. To participate, they had to present a set of 3 dishes using local products. Each finalist is assigned a master chef as a mentor - an eminent and authoritative chef from the participating country.

The XV International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum” takes place in the capital of Tatarstan from May 14 to 19.
