Turkmenistan and Russia are discussing projects on joint construction of ships
18.08.2020 | 10:11 |The Russian Trade Mission in Turkmenistan has prepared a Memorandum of Cooperation between the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) and the Balkan shipbuilding plant (Turkmenbashi city). It was reported by the Russian economic information agency “Prime” with reference to the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia.
“In accordance with the development program of the merchant fleet of Turkmenistan, it is planned to manufacture and purchase about 20 vessels of various types. In this regard, the Russian Trade Mission in Turkmenistan initiated the development and signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the United Shipbuilding Corporation JSC and the Balkan Shipbuilding and Shipyard OJSC, the statement issued by the ministry reads.
At present, the text of the document has already been agreed and is being prepared for signing soon.
In turn, the USC and the “Turkmen Sea and River Lines” Agency agreed to choose the form of signing the previously agreed Memorandum of Cooperation. The parties also discussed the organization of the document exchange with the involvement of the Foreign Ministries of both countries.
The enterprises plan to build four ships of different types: two container ships, a dredging ship, and a ship for collecting oil waste. The construction will be organized at Russian and Turkmen shipyards.
