Oriented on making people closer

Representatives of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan took part in the 14th session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, held in Baku, Azerbaijan, on February 21-24.

The session on the topic “Strengthening regional cooperation for sustainable development in Asia” was attended by parliamentary delegations from 40 countries, as well as leaders and representatives of a number of international parliamentary organizations.

The participants exchanged views on strengthening regional and bilateral cooperation, implementing joint measures for economic, social and cultural development, strengthening interaction in the field of education and culture, and the importance of information exchange.

As part of the event, a meeting of the Committee on Economics and Sustainable Development considered draft decisions and resolutions “On the creation of the Asian energy market”, “Environmental protection”, “Financial issues supporting economic growth efforts”, “On the elimination of poverty”, “The role of of the APA parliaments in support of the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals”, “On Water and Sanitation for All in Asia” and “On the Asian Climate Finance Initiative”.

Following the plenary session, the Baku Declaration and the APA final report were adopted.
