 The Chairman of the Mejlis met with the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Japanese Parliament

As part of the working visit of Chairman of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan Dunyagozel Gulmanova to Japan, a meeting was held with Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of this country Fukushiro Nukaga. During the meeting, the parties discussed issues related to the development of interparliamentary relations between Turkmenistan and Japan.

Dunyagozel Gulmanova emphasized the importance of the initiatives put forward by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during his visit to Japan in September 2022 in the course of meetings with the leaders of the Japanese Parliament.

In this regard, proposals were noted to intensify the activities of the inter-parliamentary friendship group created between the two countries, to establish youth parliamentary ties, and to increase the role of women in inter-parliamentary relations.

The parties paid special attention to the implementation of the initiative to hold a meeting of parliamentary leaders of the countries of Central Asia and Japan in Ashgabat within the framework of the “Central Asia + Japan” dialogue.

Also it was noted the recently held first meeting of the heads of parliaments of the member countries of the Group of Friends of Neutrality, created on the initiative of Turkmenistan. In this regard, the parties exchanged views on the importance of supporting friendly initiatives by parliamentarians of the two countries in the context of their participation in international organizations.

At the same time, the importance of relations between the two countries at the parliamentary level, which play an important role in improving the legal framework of bilateral cooperation, was emphasized. The speakers expressed their readiness to strengthen Turkmen-Japanese relations and maintain intergovernmental interaction through parliamentary diplomacy, as well as exchange experience in parliamentary and legislative work.

At the end of the meeting, the delegation of Turkmenistan was familiarized with the building of the Parliament of Japan and the activities carried out by this supreme body of state power.
