The legendary global technology company IBM turns 100 years old.

On February 15, 1924, the Computing-Tabulous-Recording Co. was renamed the International Business Machines Corporation.

IBM's history is a reflection of the development of the computing and IT industries. It has its roots in the XIX century. The corporation has grown from a small tabulator manufacturer founded by Herman Hollerith to one of the world's largest IT structures.

The invention of an electric tabulating system, which worked using punched cards, helped speed up addition and subtraction operations, in particular, the process of calculating the results of the US census. Over the following years, this invention was used to conduct censuses in several countries, including Austria, Canada, Italy and France.

The technology giant IBM stood at the origins of personal computers. The company owns the development of hard drives, floppy disks, bank cards with a magnetic stripe.

IBM is also focused on software development and consulting services.

In 2002, IBM bought the consulting division of the international auditing company PricewaterhouseCoopers. Today, this business generates more than half of the company's revenue.

With offices in more than 200 countries around the world, IBM supports research and development in areas such as artificial intelligence; security of IT solutions; silicon and post-silicon computing architectures; blockchains; quantum computing, cloud solutions.
