The center is designed to intensify regional cooperation to reduce the negative impact of waste on the environment and public health, and to stimulate interaction between the relevant authorities of the Central Asian countries in the field of waste management.

The circular economy is a response to existing global challenges such as climate change and waste generation; transition to the use of renewable energy sources, reduction of emissions and pollution as a result of recycling.
Many of the Sustainable Development Goals are directly related to waste management. These include access to basic services, eliminating waste emissions to improve water quality, managing municipal solid waste, etc.
