Turkmenistan is ready to host a meeting of the Dialogue on Security and Cooperation in Central Asia
14.09.2023 | 16:37 |Turkmenistan will propose to establish a Dialogue on Security and Cooperation in Central Asia under the auspices of the UN, with the aim of developing approaches and solutions aimed at bringing together and synchronizing the efforts of the Central Asian countries in ensuring sustainable, conflict-free development of the region.
Turkmenistan is ready to host the first meeting of such a meeting in 2024. This was stated by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov at the fifth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of Central Asian states in Dushanbe. In his speech, he noted a number of initiatives related to the development of Central Asia, which Turkmenistan will propose during the upcoming 78th session of the UN General Assembly.
It will also be proposed to hold consultations with relevant UN agencies to determine the optimal format and structure of the UN Special Program for the Aral Sea Basin.
Another proposal concerns the establishment of a Regional Center for Technologies Related to Climate Change in Central Asia.
– We are ready to provide all the necessary infrastructure for the placement of this center in Ashgabat, – said Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
