Style as an experiment with quality: Day of Italian design was held in Ashgabat

Ashgabat celebrated Day of Italian Design 2023 with a series of presentations. Students of metropolitan higher schools such as the Turkmen State University named after Magtymguly, the International University for the Humanities and Development, the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction attended lectures by design expert Matteo Urbinati.

The motto of this year's event is "Design energy for people and the environment", which is expressed through the provision of products and services through the search for an aesthetic and economical approach to the use of energy.

Commercial Attaché of the Italian Embassy Carmelo Leo emphasized the importance of the campaign, which is held annually in more than 100 countries around the world. In his opinion, its holding, including in Turkmenistan, contributes to the development of international cooperation in the field of trade, culture and creativity.

The speaker of the event, Matteo Urbinati, made a presentation revealing the characteristic aspects of Italian design on the example of lighting fixtures.

Urbinati noted that design today is not just a matter of aesthetics. It has a profound impact on human life and the environment. According to him, the Italian style is an example of how decoration can be used to achieve a balance between functionality and beauty, good quality and ecological compatibility.

− In general, Italian design is an exceptionally rich heritage. It is a synthesis of art, aesthetics and quality, which makes it one of the most unique and recognizable styles in the world,” Matteo Urbinati said in an interview with ORIENT.

He noted that when creating lamps of Italian brands, high-quality materials are used, including marble, glass and crystal, as well as elements from expensive metals. And modern technologies for their production carry the centuries-old traditions of craftsmanship, coming from Florentine and Venetian glassblowers, who experimented at a high artistic and quality level, bringing their work to a real masterpiece. Such an important difference as energy efficiency is added to the advantages of today's products.
