Notes, patterns, recipes: the story of a perfectionist
20.03.2023 | 18:10 |Is it possible to do several things perfectly at once, which are completely from different "operas"? For example, to teach music, cook dishes of various cuisines at the chef's level, sew dresses like a high-class tailor and at the same time be a super mom of three sons.
Her name is Svetlana Kim and she resisted for a long time for me to tell Orient readers about her, saying that she has no special achievements and merits, and what she can do can be done by every average person who has passed the Esseser School. I agree about education in the USSR – versatility was the rule rather than the exception, and almost everyone who grew up in the Soviet Union was multifaceted and, one might even say, universal.
Nevertheless, to bring your craft to perfectionism is already the choice of the person himself or, rather, the strength of character, and perfection becomes a lifestyle for him, as in the case of Svetlana.
She has been teaching music for more than 35 years – this is her main and favorite job. For many years, she was a teacher at the Mary Music School, of which she is a graduate, and now she is a teacher at the Maya Kuliyeva Turkmen National Conservatory in the chamber Ensemble department. By the way, TNC is also "native walls" for her, she spent her student years here.
We can safely say about her "a teacher from God" - she can "make" a good musician out of a mediocre average person, and from gifted children – laureates and winners of prestigious competitions. At work, she gives her best and does it with a soul, and treats students as equals. Maybe that is why they have a special attitude towards her, many of whom have become friends and are always there, while others keep in touch, even after going abroad. For more than three decades of teaching, she has sent about the same number of graduates to "free swimming" - today they are successfully working all over the country in music schools, colleges, as well as in the conservatory.
Innate perfectionism has also "polished" Svetlana's culinary abilities – she is especially good at Korean national dishes. Although, according to her, she started cooking relatively late and mastered the cooking craft by trial and error. In addition, today she advised to open a restaurant with an author's menu, where everyone who has ever tried "Kim's" pickles will go.
− If you have a hearing, it is not a problem to pick up the music on the instrument. In cooking, about the same. After trying a delicious dish, I take the recipe and start cooking. Sometimes it is not the first time I can achieve the same memorable taste, but after conducting various experiments with ingredients, I still achieve the desired result, "says Svetlana Kim.
− My mother had very tasty hands and I always wanted to repeat the same "taste of childhood". Then I began to master Korean cuisine with all its subtleties. From memory, I brought the dishes to the sample of my mother's masterpieces and I am happy to treat friends, colleagues and my students," says Svetlana Ivanovna, laughing.
Nevertheless, sewing, on the contrary, she has been doing since childhood – it all started at work lessons at school, when Svetlana started trying to cut, sew and create exclusive outfits for herself. Seeing the daughter's efforts, her parents gave her a Veritas sewing machine, cool for those times, which to this day "sheaths" its mistress. Does not take orders. However, he can work on a dress for himself for hours on end until he brings the product to the desired quality.
In addition, no matter how modest Svetlana Vasilyevna is, but she still has an achievement - three sons, whom she raised intelligent, well-mannered and kind people. Despite the fact that they live in different countries and cities, they do not leave their mother without attention – their tremulous care and unobtrusive guardianship allow Svetlana to feel like a beloved parent, a delicate woman, and somewhere even a capricious lady. Moreover, this means that her perfectionism in the educational process has given very good "fruits" and isn’t this the women’s happiness.
