The expert told what an "emergency suitcase" is and what it consists of
18.10.2022 | 14:15 |The term "emergency suitcase" has always carried a negative emotional connotation: it is almost always associated with a disaster or catastrophe. Such a "typesetter" has become a symbol of fear of the future. The very concept of an "emergency suitcase" appeared long before economic crises or mass migrations.
Destitute and torn apart by endless disasters, the population of distant times left behind many similar concepts and even superstitions. Among them is a sachak, which should never be empty, and a reverent attitude to food, which should definitely be finished. The meaning of the "emergency suitcase" was not so much to give hope for salvation during a disaster, as to give a little faith for a more sparing future.
In the age of high technology, when rescue services and rapid response forces can quickly provide assistance, the image of an "emergency suitcase" does not leave modern man. Economic growth, characterized by cyclical nature, instability of the situation in the world provoke the formation of the idea "that this will not always be the case." This idea is firmly ingrained in the minds of people who form a "safety cushion" in case of failure and unforeseen circumstances.
As for the real "emergency suitcase", we learned about its composition from an expert in his field. This is what Murad Hemrayev, the head of the Emergency Rescue Service of the Ashgabat International Airport, told specially for ORIENT:
"When a situation arises that may threaten a person's life, the most important thing is not to give in to panic. It must be remembered that at the moment there are clear instructions on how to behave and protect yourself with minimal risks. We can say that the leading principle in collapse is the understanding that a person is able to withstand thirst and hunger for a long time, if not expending the energy uselessly." "In order for a victim of a disaster to have the opportunity to escape if the disaster was of a large scale and because of this, rescue services are temporarily unable to provide assistance, there is a special set of items of urgent need, the so-called civilian "emergency suitcase".
"Here is a list of what should be included in the "emergency suitcase" according to the expert:
– documents or their copies in waterproof packaging. Here you can also add photos of loved ones that you may need to search for them.,
– bank cards or cash,
– duplicate keys to the house and car,
– map of the area,
– first aid kit,
– communication devices that provide access to information. Radio receiver with VHF or FM band, mobile phone,
– handheld and headlamp flashlight, as well as batteries,
– universal knife (with a set of tools),
– hunting knife,
– a supply of food and water for three days: stew, canned meat or fish, soup bags. If there is space left – cereals, pasta, vegetables, semi-finished products,
– signaling means (whistle),
– sewing kit (threads and needles),
– disposable tableware,
– hygiene products,
– spare pants, jacket, raincoat, hat, comfortable shoes, and several sets of underwear.
"The presence of such a set will help a person to fully deploy the response forces of rescue services. But I would also like to note that the presence of any, even the most complete "suitcase" does not provide any guarantees if you do not remain calm and succumb to chaos."
The term "suitcase" itself is ambiguous and depends on the interpretation. And if in one case such a "suitcase" is filled with assets and securities, then in others – breadcrumbs, water and matches. Such a different approach to "believing in security" does not depend on the level of well-being, but rather on the degree of impending threats. The desire to understand such threats is traditionally considered the lot of analysts and experts, but the people's "flair" can not be deceived.
The market economy, forcing savings to be spent with one hand and ruining Wall Street cranks with the other, has determined what a "financial suitcase" should look like. Gold, oil, currency – everything has an unstable price and the only, but the surest investment is education and health. The possession of both at a qualitative level guarantees both the financial security of the individual and the possibility of implementing the acquired skills.
Thanks to the current mobile environment in which we live, a "suitcase" will be needed in the worst case for a week or two if you find yourself in trouble in an urban environment. If the area is remote or bordering on natural areas, then the "suitcase" should be more spacious. Only through reasonable planning can you ensure a secure future for yourself and your loved ones.
