First solar-wind power plant is to be built in Turkmenistan
17.06.2021 | 05:13 |The first hybrid solar-wind power plant in the country with a capacity of 10 megawatts will be built at the artificial “Altyn Asyr” Lake in Turkmenistan.
The new eco-project was presented to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov by Minister of Energy Charymyrat Purchekov on Tuesday, the official Turkmen press writes today.
The project of the innovative facility was developed by the Research and Production Center of the State Institute of Power Engineering of Turkmenistan. The plant will generate electricity exclusively from renewable energy sources.
The construction of the new power plant is outlined in the Action Plan for implementing the Concept for development of the “Altyn Asyr” Turkmen Lake region in 2019-2025.
The Minister of Energy also reported to the Head of State on the plans to switch the Akhal and Dashoguz power plants to a combined control pattern, as well as on the construction progress of the Repair and Maintenance Center for power engineering equipment in Buzmeyin district of Ashgabat. It was reported that the Center will occupy a total area of 29 thousand square meters and create additional jobs.
The work planned by the Ministry of Energy is expected to increase the efficiency of electricity production in the country from 34% to 52%, the Minister said.
