Private farms have increased the production of fruits and vegetables
11.06.2021 | 06:02 |In January-May 2021, members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan gathered 86.7% more fruits and vegetables compared to the same period last year.
These products were grown and harvested within privatized farmers’ associations, the production efficiency of which has increased due to the use of modern technologies by the business, and a rational approach to water use.
From the spring season crop of 2021, the UIET members are planning to gather more than 150 thousand tons of various agricultural products.
The planned harvest of vegetables (potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, bell peppers, cabbage, carrots, beets and other crops, as well as berries and grapes is 44 thousand 593 tons and 59 thousand 566 tons, respectively.
According to the plan, 891.5 tons of mung beans and millet, 63 thousand 867 tons of cereals and legumes, including corn, soybeans, barley and other crops are to be harvested during this season.
On Tuesday, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed the Decree on providing state financial support to private sector of the economy.
The document will have a positive effect on development of private agriculture, as it provides for the financial assistance to agricultural producers for the purchase of modern equipment, high-quality planting materials, the construction of high-tech greenhouses, etc.
