A cultural evening in Brussels to celebrate Turkmenistan's Independence Day united Europe and Asia
29.09.2025 | 21:35 |A vibrant cultural evening dedicated to Turkmenistan's Independence Day took place in the diplomatic capital of Europe. The event, "Treasures of Independence: A Celebration of Turkmen Heritage," organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan, was a powerful statement of the country's commitment to intercultural dialogue and innovation.
The evening brought together an impressive diplomatic and political delegation, including representatives of European Union institutions, ambassadors from Central Asian and EU member states, and the Secretary General of the Benelux Union.
A highlight of the evening was the participation of Turkmen designers representing the country's contemporary culture. They were part of a program organized by Elena Kharitonova, founder of the Central Asian European Creative Alliance, which for the second year in a row has been holding cultural initiatives in Brussels that unite Europe and Central Asia.
The fashion show by the Turkmen brand Göwher Gouvernet attracted particular attention. Designer Göwher Gouvernet-Pirkulieva presented a collection that served as a living bridge between millennia-old traditions and contemporary style.
The musical accompaniment for the show was created by Embassy employee Maral Rakhimova as part of an innovative experiment: the composer used artificial intelligence to combine the sounds of traditional Central Asian instruments. This experiment clearly demonstrated how cutting-edge technologies can contribute to the development and renewal of national cultural heritage.
The event was organized with the support of the Central Asian European Creative Alliance (founded by Elena Kharitonova), which consistently strengthens cultural ties between the two continents.
Addressing the guests, Ambassador of Turkmenistan Sapar Palvanov emphasized that the cultural evening symbolizes not only the 34th anniversary of independence but also the millennia-old history of the Turkmen people, who have managed to preserve their unique heritage.
The Ambassador emphasized the strategic importance of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality: "The neutral status recognized by the UN creates a broad platform for cooperation and dialogue. Our task is to create conditions for this exchange to be deeper and richer, because culture itself knows no boundaries; it unites people."
The importance of cultural exchange as a foundation for mutual understanding was also emphasized by Gaia Daneza, Cultural Adviser at the European External Action Service.
The evening was more than just a celebration; it was a convincing demonstration of Turkmenistan's use of cultural diplomacy as an effective tool for fostering an atmosphere of friendship, trust, and peace in its dialogue with the European Union.
