Strong winds, temperature changes and possible rains: what to expect from the weather this week
15.09.2025 | 18:05 |At the beginning of the week, most of Turkmenistan will be under the influence of a vast anticyclone centered over the Volga region. Its southeastern and southern periphery will bring relatively cooler air masses for the local latitudes. Nights will become chilly, while daytime will remain warm.
Monday. In the north of Balkan and in Dashoguz regions, nighttime temperatures will be +10…+15°C, daytime +20…+25°C. In Ahal region, temperatures will range from +21…+26°C in the west and north to +28°C in the southeast. In Mary and Lebap regions daytime +23…+28°C. Tuesday. Cool nights will cover almost the whole country: +8…+13°C in Dashoguz and most of Balkan region, +11…+16°C in Ahal, and +13…+18°C in Mary and Lebap regions. Daytime averages will be +22…+29°C depending on the region.
Wednesday–Thursday. Nights will remain cool, but daytime temperatures will rise slightly. In Dashoguz and Balkan regions +21…+26°C, in Ahal, Mary and Lebap regions +23…+28°C.
Friday. In Balkan region, strong winds are expected due to a pressure gradient forming between low pressure over the Caspian and high pressure further north. Dust storms may occur in some places, with gusts reaching 17–22 m/s.
Weekend. With the weakening of the anticyclone’s influence, hot air will begin to flow into the south of the country. Daytime temperatures will rise to +30…+35°C, and in some areas up to +37°C. However, the heat will be short-lived — variable weather with stronger winds and occasional light rains is forecast, reports the meteorological journal.
