The Turkmen student diplomats club reproduced UN Model

In honor of the Day of Diplomatic Workers of Turkmenistan, several events were held at the International University for Humanities and Development (IUHD). One of them, the UN Model game, is organized by the Diplomats Club.

“UN Model” is a simulation of the work of the United Nations, in which students or pupils represent different countries and try to solve the world problems in accordance with the political course and position of the states they represent.

Students of the Faculty of International Relations and Law of the IUHD took part in the educational game. Students of the university represented countries such as the Russian Federation, the Turkish Republic, the Federal Republic of Germany, Myanmar, Somalia, Iceland and Turkmenistan.

The topic for discussion was “Empowering Youth as Peacebuilding Agents”. Next, the students, in the role of delegates, one after another, spoke on behalf of the countries they represent and told “representatives of other states” about the strategies they had adopted aimed at solving this problem. Each representative could take the initiative to adopt a resolution to improve the rights of youth.

For example, resolutions were proposed on the creation of an international youth fund aimed at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, and the organization of an International Youth Forum in order to increase tolerance among the younger generation.

The development of innovative solutions to tackle global problems is exactly the same as the goals pursued directly by the United Nations. And holding the UN Model game is a great opportunity for students to get an idea of the work of the organization, touch the world of international relations and see themselves as a future diplomat.

Also, the reproduction of the work of an international organization helps students in acquiring oratory, leadership, language skills, and most importantly, the ability to come to a compromise and contribute to the training of highly qualified personnel.
