A specialized masterclass on painting fabric bags, commonly known as "shoppers," was conducted in Ashgabat, specifically tailored for senior citizens. The event focused on the water resources of Central Asia and was held as part of the regional project "Water Resources Management in Central Asia under Climate Impact." This initiative coincided with Amu Darya River Day.

The masterclass was jointly organized by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the State Committee for Water Management of Turkmenistan. Financial support for the project is provided by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), with the participation of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).

Under the guidance of artist Nurberdy Annakuliev, participants learned various painting techniques, creating depictions of water landscapes. This symbolically underscored the vital role of water in the region. The creative process unfolded in a warm and inspiring atmosphere, with participants actively sharing ideas, exchanging opinions, and interacting with one another. This fostered stronger social connections and facilitated the acquisition of new knowledge.

This event not only contributed to the development of participants' artistic skills but also drew attention to the pressing environmental challenges confronting Central Asia, including issues of rational water use and climate change adaptation. It served as one of the preparatory stages for the main celebration of Amu Darya River Day. Future activities planned include similar masterclasses for teenagers and individuals with disabilities, as well as competitions for drawings, recycled art, and photographs, along with an online flashmob, all aimed at enhancing public environmental literacy.
