Peter the Great and the Caspian cruises - details
14.01.2018 | 16:23 |In accordance with the memorandum on cooperation, signed between the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (AIPM) and the Moscow River Shipping Company, the first tourist tours will be launched on the Caspian Sea by the end of 2019.
The technical characteristics of the first new cruise ship, which will be used in the program, called "Peter the Great", were unveiled recently by the Association of Tour Operators of the Russian Federation Atorus.ru.
“Peter the Great” - five-star hotel in the Caspian sea
The vessel under the project code PV300VD is currently being built at the “Lotus” shipyards and will be delivered to the disposal of the Russian cruise operator “Mosturflot” in 2019.
“Peter the Great” motor ship in the version of the Moscow River Shipping Company is designed for 310 passengers who will travel in comfortable 155 cabins located in a four-storey superstructure: these are 10 suites with balconies ranging in size from 26 to 43 square meters, 121 standard cabins with balconies.
There are also cabins for people with disabilities: 2 suites with a balcony of about 33 square meters and 2 standard rooms. The special elevators and widened passages will be neýisaged for this category of travelers.


All passenger cabins are equipped with double beds, a bathroom, air conditioning, wardrobes, lock box, TV with satellite and internal channels, hairdryer, electrical outlets for 220V and 110V, wireless Internet (Wi-Fi), ship radio, internal and external telephone communication.
The vessel will be equipped with two restaurants: the main restaurant and the restaurant with an open kitchen. There will be a smorgasbord in the halls of the main restaurant, and a large hall will have a bar counter. The restaurant with an open kitchen will offer the opportunity of observing food preparation process in the galley, separated from a hall with a glass partition. In addition, all restaurants have maximum glazing, opening the view for the beautiful seascapes.
The high-rate rest and comfort on the ship will be also provided by a 24-hour bar, a two-level sun deck, a swimming pool, four jacuzzis, which can also be used in bad weather, as this part of the deck is closed by a mobile canopy.
The ship will be equipped with several conference rooms, a children's room, a beauty salon, a gift shop and a fitness center. In general, the analogue of the five-star hotel complex will be voyaging in the waters of the Caspian Sea.


The autonomous mode for fuel on the vessel will be 15 days, for the remaining types of reserves - 10 days. The ship will be serviced by a crew and a staff of 90 people.
The designers of the Peter the Great liner, the first river-sea cruise vessel in Russia, took into account all international conventions, including the norms of the SOLAS Convention on the Safety of Life at Sea, the MARPOL Convention on the Prevention of Pollution from Ships, the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions in the sea (COLREGs) and others.
First voyages of the “Peter the Great”
According to "Mosturflot", the launch of the Peter the Great motor ship is scheduled for 2019. Then it will have to perform three cruise programs, which will connect the Caspian Sea and the Black Sea.


The first program will be the 11-day route “Treasures of the East” with the starting and termination points in Baku and calls to the ports of Bandar-e Anzali, Nowshahr (Iran), Turkmenbashi (Turkmenistan), Aktau (Kazakhstan), Astrakhan, Makhachkala, Derbent (Russia).
In winter, "Peter the Great" will move to the Black Sea, where the cruise “Adventure on the Three Seas” will be carried.
In March 2020, the vessel will get back to the Caspian cruise and then will start the route “Great Silk Road” from Baku to Moscow.
“Since the second year we plan to work with foreign tourists from all over the world. Already now, according to the Moscow River Shipping Company, Caspian cruises attract tourists from the US, Australia, Europe and China,” said Svetlana Goncharova, Deputy General Director for Tourism of Mosturflot.
