World's largest inflatable dome erected in China: eco-protection for construction

In Jinan, Shandong Province, China, the world's largest inflatable dome has been installed at a construction site. Standing at 50 meters tall and covering an area of approximately 20,000 square meters—comparable to two and a half football fields—this innovative structure represents an environmentally conscious approach to construction in dense urban environments.

The primary purpose of the dome is to minimize the negative impact of construction activities on the surrounding environment and nearby residents. It serves several key functions:

• Blocks up to 90% of construction dust.

• Reduces noise levels by 80%.

• Protects the site from precipitation and wind, enabling work to continue even in adverse weather conditions.

The dome is constructed from a durable, fire-resistant PVDF film that is resistant to UV radiation, moisture, and temperature fluctuations. This material effectively reflects heat and adheres to stringent fire safety standards (Class B1).

Comfort and safety within the structure are ensured by an intelligent control system:

• Four ventilation fans maintain constant circulation of fresh air.

• Integrated sensors monitor temperature and pressure.

• During more active phases of construction, a water spray system will be connected for additional dust suppression.

The dome's height accommodates large construction machinery, facilitating extensive work. Upon completion of the project, the structure will be dismantled. However, similar eco-protective solutions are planned for implementation in other urban infrastructure renovation projects in Jinan, including the reconstruction of historical districts.

Thus, the inflatable dome establishes a new paradigm for "quiet" and environmentally friendly construction, contributing to an improved quality of life in modern metropolises.
