Tajikistan hosts event to mark International Year of Peace and Trust
26.02.2025 | 09:00 |On February 25th, an event dedicated to the "International Year of Peace and Trust", the 30th anniversary of permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan, and the presentation of the new book by the esteemed President of Turkmenistan, "Magtymguly – the Sage of the World" took place at the Tajik National University.
The event was organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Tajikistan and was attended by the UN Resident Coordinator in Tajikistan, Ms. Ramaswamy Parvathy, representatives from the Writers' Union and the Society of Friendship and Cultural Relations of Tajikistan, as well as the leadership and faculty of the Tajik National University. University students, including those from Turkmenistan, and members of the media were also present.
The event featured speeches by the Ambassador of Turkmenistan, Mr. A. Gochmyradov, the UN Resident Coordinator in Tajikistan, Ms. R. Parvathy, the First Deputy Chairman of the Writers' Union of Tajikistan, Mr. A. Mirhoja, the Chairman of the Commission on Deputy Ethics of the Majlisi Namoyandagon Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. F. Barotzoda, who was awarded the jubilee medal of Turkmenistan "Magtymguly Pyragynyň 300 ýyllygyna", Candidate of Philosophical Sciences and member of the Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, Mr. M. Asrori, the Head of the Department of Diplomacy at the university, Mr. F. Salaimov, and a 5th-year student of the university, Ms. A. Ahmedova.
The Vice-Rector of the Tajik National University, Mr. B. Safarmorad, in his address, emphasized that hosting such a significant event, coinciding with the presentation of the new book by the President of Turkmenistan and the International Year of Peace and Trust, is a great honor for the university. He also expressed readiness to further expand cooperation with the Turkmen side in the fields of science and education.
Ambassador A. Gochmyradov provided a detailed account of the content of President of Turkmenistan's book "Magtymguly – the Sage of the World" highlighting the significance of the poet's work in realizing the principles of peace and trust. UN Resident Coordinator in Tajikistan, Ms. R. Parvathy, in her speech, emphasized that the proclamation of 2025 as the "International Year of Peace and Trust", initiated by Turkmenistan and supported by 86 countries, demonstrates the country's commitment to strengthening peace, trust, and international cooperation at the global level.
As part of the event, participants visited a special exhibition organized at the university. The exhibition placed particular emphasis on the books of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero Arkadag, and the President of Turkmenistan, some of which were donated to the university library.
On the same day, a meeting was held between the Ambassador of Turkmenistan and the Vice-Rectors of the university, Mr. B. Safarmorad and Mr. I. Gafforzoda, during which the prospects for developing cooperation in the fields of science and education were discussed.
