 Government Meeting – Main Topics and Decisions | Review

On Friday, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held another government meeting online. The focus was on legislative initiatives, development of education, industry, agriculture, humanitarian activities and preparations for anniversary celebrations.

Legislative Reforms and International Parliamentary Cooperation

The first speaker was Chairperson of the Mejlis Dunyagozel Gulmanova, who reported on preparations for the next parliamentary meeting, where it is planned to consider the draft of the new version of the Civil Code.

Also, on the agenda are bills on the state register of voters, amendments to the Customs Code and legislation on internal affairs.

The intensification of cooperation with foreign parliaments and international organizations was noted. Representatives of the Mejlis participate in seminars together with government agencies and foreign partners.

Development of Higher Education and Establishment of a New University

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Khodjamyrat Geldimyradov reported on measures to regulate the activities of private universities.

It was proposed to include new areas in the State Register - "Higher Professional Education" and "Professional Education after Higher Education".

Deputy Prime Minister Nokerguly Atagulyev reported on the training of specialists for the entrepreneurial sphere.

Within the framework of the Socio-Economic Development Program until 2028, documents have been prepared on the establishment of the International University of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the establishment of which was approved by the President of the country by his Decree.

Energy, Agriculture and Natural Resources

Deputy Prime Minister Batyr Amanov informed about the exploration of solid minerals and rare earth metals carried out by the state corporation "Turkmengeology". Modern drilling rigs, which help to provide raw materials for the metallurgical and electronic industries are used.

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Tangryguly Atakhalliyev reported on the progress of seasonal agricultural campaigns. Wheat harvesting, settlements with farmers, rice sowing in the Lebap velayat and agricultural work in cotton and sugar beet fields continue.

Livestock farming and measures to improve water supply are developing - irrigation systems are being cleaned and water management facilities are being repaired.

Cultural Initiatives and Preparations for Anniversaries

Deputy Prime Minister Baymyrat Annamammedov reported on the improvement of Ashgabat and preparations for the celebrations in honor of the International Year of Peace and Trust, as well as the 30th anniversary of permanent neutrality.

Deputy Prime Minister Bahar Seyidova presented a project for holding the Week of Culture in the Balkan region from June 22 to 27, 2026, and congratulated the President and the National Leader on the professional holiday of figures of culture.

Education – Quality and International Standards

Deputy Prime Minister Bayramgul Orazdurdyeva reported on the development of the higher education system.

A National Rating System and a digital portal, allowing to assess the quality of teaching and identify promising areas have been introduced.

A number of Turkmen universities are already represented in international rankings.

Humanitarian Diplomacy and International Cooperation

Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov presented information on the country's humanitarian activities. Since 1994, Turkmenistan has implemented 333 national and regional projects jointly with the UN.

In difficult regional conditions, the country continues to provide humanitarian aid, including the creation of corridors for the transit of foreign citizens.

Over 4.6 thousand citizens of more than 50 countries, including regions of Asia, Europe, Africa and America, have already passed through the organized air-land corridor.

Turkmenistan interacts with international organizations, including the UN, IOM, ICRC and the Red Crescent.

In order to coordinate efforts in this direction, a round table is planned for June 28 and a briefing is planned for June 29.

Training of Aviation Personnel

Head of the transport and communications agency under the government of Turkmenistan, Mammetkhan Chakyev, reported on the certificate of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) previously received by the Türkmenhowaýollary (Turkmenistan Airlines) school, which allows it to train international-level specialists. Based on this document, it is planned to expand the profile of training with the support of ICAO this year.

Decisions Taken

At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov gave instructions to the vice-premiers and heads of structures to develop the areas under his supervision.

The head of state approved the licensing of private universities, the organization of courses based on "Türkmenhowaýollary", the establishment of a new university, as well as the holding of Culture Week in 2026 in the Balkan region of Turkmenistan.
