An event dedicated to the "International Year of Peace and Trust" was held at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Ukraine
22.01.2025 | 13:13 |On January 21st, a solemn event dedicated to the "International Year of Peace and Trust" and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality took place at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Ukraine.
The event was attended by heads and staff of Kyiv libraries, university professors, journalists, book publishers, students, and representatives of the Turkmen diaspora. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to Ukraine, Toyly Atayev, addressed the audience with a welcoming speech. He noted that, at the initiative of Turkmenistan, the UN General Assembly declared 2025 the "International Year of Peace and Trust," which is being observed under this name in the country.
T. Atayev spoke in detail about Turkmenistan's achievements on the international stage, as well as its successes in the country's socio-economic development. Key areas such as the fuel and energy sector, agriculture, oil and gas industry, transport and communications, medicine, culture, science, education, and urban development were highlighted. The Ambassador emphasized that, thanks to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Turkmenistan is actively promoting initiatives on the international arena. Among them are the UN resolutions "Central Asia – Zone of Peace, Trust and Trust", "Treaty on a Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone in Central Asia", as well as the International Day of Neutrality, celebrated on December 12th.
The event highlighted the history of Turkmenistan's neutrality, the principles of positive neutrality, and its influence on international relations. Particular attention was paid to the concept of the "International Year of Peace and Trust" and Turkmenistan's role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. During the meeting, diplomatic staff and guests emphasized the importance of Turkmenistan's peacekeeping efforts and the significance of the initiative related to the proclamation of the "International Year of Peace and Trust".
A special emphasis was placed on the cultural program: a representative of the Turkmen diaspora recited a poem by Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, "Turkmenistan – Homeland of Peace and Trust", in her native language. The musical part was enhanced by the performance of folk melodies on the dutar by the talented Serdar Derekov. An exhibition of Turkmen national heritage items was organized as part of the event.
Participants were presented with musical instruments, jewelry, traditional clothing, carpets, artistic paintings, and photographs. The book exhibition showcased the works of the President of Turkmenistan and the National Leader of the Turkmen people. A separate stand was dedicated to books by the great poet Magtymguly Fragi, published in various languages of the world.
