Turkmenistan attracts global players in the energy market

At the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects for cooperation in the oil and gas sector, paying special attention to new joint projects in the field of hydrocarbon production and processing, export of Turkmen oil and gas, and modernization of the infrastructure of the oil and gas complex of Turkmenistan. The meeting participants expressed their readiness to further deepen cooperation, emphasizing the importance of introducing advanced technologies and investing in the sustainable development of the energy sector.
International companies are attracted by the country's rich raw material resources, political and economic stability, and favorable investment climate, which create a reliable basis for long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation. The talks held in Ashgabat are considered a new stage of interaction between Turkmenistan and the leading players in the global energy market. The agreements reached during the official visit of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Malaysia on December 18-19, 2024, and the working visit of National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the United Arab Emirates in January last year played an important role in the productive development of international cooperation with the UAE and Malaysia in the energy sector.
In Kuala Lumpur, Serdar Berdimuhamedov identified energy, transport and technology as promising areas of bilateral partnership, and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim confirmed Malaysia's readiness to implement projects in these areas. The package of documents signed following the visit included the Protocol on the commercial terms of the Production Sharing Agreement for the development of the Toplum-I contract area in the Turkmen section of the Caspian Sea.
Following the working visit of National Leader of the Turkmen People Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the United Arab Emirates, three documents were signed concerning energy cooperation. This is a Memorandum of Understanding between the State Concern Turkmengaz and the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) to attract strategic partners for the third stage of the Galkynysh field development and their possible participation in the implementation of projects for the construction of infrastructure for the supply of natural gas to countries in the region and other states.
The Memorandum of Cooperation between the State Concern Turkmengaz and ADNOC is aimed at exploring the potential for scientific, technical and economic cooperation in the field of reducing methane emissions into the atmosphere. The Memorandum of Understanding between the State Concern Turkmennebit and Dragon Oil (Turkmenistan) Ltd. is aimed at continuing long-term fruitful cooperation.
