 Turkmenistan celebrates World Hindi Day

On January 10, 2025, a ceremonial event dedicated to World Hindi Day was held at the Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages. It was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to Turkmenistan Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat, embassy staff, the institute's management, teachers and students. At the beginning of the event, rector of the institute M. Charyev made a welcoming speech. In his speech, the rector noted that the established cooperation between the higher educational institution and the Embassy of the Republic of India in Turkmenistan is of great importance in a deeper study of the Hindi language by students.

Then Madam Ambassador spoke, noting the importance of celebrating World Hindi Day. Respected Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat, especially emphasized the popularity of Hindi in Turkmenistan, as well as the high level of Hindi proficiency of the teachers and students of this higher school. Then the students studying Hindi made presentations on the closeness of Turkmen and Indian literature, the similarity of cultures and traditions of the peoples. They enthusiastically recited the poem "The Fount of the Mind of Magtymguly Fragi", the poems by Magtymguly Fragi translated into Hindi, the poems by Rabindranath Tagore, Mkanlal Chaturvedi, Harivansh Rai Bachchan in Hindi, masterfully performed Indian dance and the Turkmen national dance - kushtdepdi, which made a great impression on the participants of the celebration. At the end of the event, the results of the competition for the best essay and translation of poems dedicated to World Hindi Day were summed up and the students-winners were awarded prizes.
