Oriented on making people closer

A solemn closing ceremony for the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs) was held in Avaza. The ceremony, which included the lowering of the UN and Turkmenistan flags, featured speeches from Turkmenistan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rashid Meredov, and UN Under-Secretary-General Rabab Fatima.

Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister noted that the conference served not only as a platform for assessing progress and identifying persistent challenges but also as a venue where "new bridges of dialogue and partnership" were forged. He emphasized that it was a great honor for Turkmenistan to host such a "forward-looking and action-oriented global platform."

Rashid Meredov extended his gratitude to everyone involved in organizing and working at the forum: heads of state and government, ministers, experts, and UN staff whose "unflagging professionalism and commitment to excellence" played a crucial role. He also specifically acknowledged the contributions of the volunteers, particularly the youth, whose "energy, hospitality, and sense of duty left an indelible impression."

Rabab Fatima complemented the minister's remarks by calling Avaza a "symbol of hope, aspirations, and a common purpose" for 600 million people. She also expressed deep gratitude to Turkmenistan's President, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the government, and the people of the country for their "outstanding leadership and generous support." Rabab Fatima noted that the conference united the hearts and minds of the international community, and its process was "purposeful and inclusive," bringing together the voices of heads of state, parliamentarians, the private sector, and young and women leaders.

Both speakers agreed that the lowering of the flags was not an end but the beginning of a new phase. The minister urged that it not be seen as a conclusion but as "a symbol of the end of a common phase and the beginning of a new one." Rabab Fatima called it "the start of a new chapter" for landlocked developing countries, reminding listeners that despite geographical constraints, they possess immense opportunities.

In conclusion, Rashid Meredov stated that Turkmenistan looks to the future with optimism, reinforced by new partnerships. The main goal is to achieve tangible progress for LLDCs, transforming geography "from a barrier into a bridge" that connects not only markets but also peoples and cultures.
